Emergency Department Clinical Intern

During the summer of 2023, I was selected for the incredible opportunity to intern in the Emergency Department at Parkview Whitley Hospital acquiring well over 300 clinical hours. Working alongside an incredible team of nurses and doctors, I was able to provide quality care to patients in their times of emergent need while taking EKGs, setting up heart monitors, taking vitals, assisting the doctors and nurses, and providing direct care for the patients. I also had the opportunity to observe the inner workings of a hospital in Med-Surg, radiology, and obstetrics.
Over a few short months, I was able to develop firsthand knowledge of a multitude of critical diagnoses and their treatments. I gained incredible experience in the medical field, developed a confident and polite bedside manner, and formed wonderful connections along the way.

I have spent 125+ hours shadowing physicians and dentists across the Greater Fort Wayne area.
These incredible opportunities have provided me with a greater knowledge of the daily activities of each profession, how these dedicated professionals provide quality care to each and every patient, and also allowed me a better understanding as to my own interests within the fields.

Pine Valley Country Club

Over the summer months, I worked at the Pine Valley Country Club outdoor pool, where I was responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of hundreds of club members. My role involved constant vigilance, both in the pool and throughout the surrounding areas, to guarantee a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. I monitored pool activities, enforced safety regulations, and provided immediate responses in case of emergencies. Additionally, I maintained the cleanliness of the pool and its facilities, performing regular inspections of water quality and ensuring the surrounding areas remained tidy and well-kept. Through my efforts, I contributed to creating a secure, relaxed, and enjoyable atmosphere where members could unwind, socialize, and fully enjoy their time at the club.
Head Prep Coach

Pine Valley Swim Team

During the summers, I coached the Pine Valley Prep Team teaching children ages 3-10 lifesaving skills in swimming and then developing those skills into smooth and efficient swimming strokes. In the 2022 season, I was promoted to be one of two Head Prep Coaches, managing over 120 young swimmers and 14 coaches.
This helped refine my skills in mentoring, working with young children, managing other coaches, and communicating with the parents of the athletes.
